Nursery Song Swing November 6-8, 2008 The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis transforms traditional children’s songs and nursery rhymes into jazz for all generations, featuring new arrangements by members of the JLCO and performances by young guest artists.
Red Hot Holiday Stomp December 11-13, 2008 Our annual holiday celebration returns by popular demand. This year, trombonist and host, Wycliffe Gordon and friends Wess “Warmdaddy” Anderson, Walter Blanding, Victor Goines, Roberta Gumbel, Dan Nimmer, Joe Temperley, Don Vappie, Reginald Veal and Herlin Riley bring some Big Easy-style holiday swing to the Big Apple.
Chick Corea & John McLaughlin: Five Peace Band April 23-25, 2009 Legendary pianist-composer Chick Corea and influential guitarist John McLaughlin make their long-awaited Rose Theater debut. Working together for the first time since the days of Miles Davis' Bitches Brew-era band over 40 years ago. They bring their newly created Five Peace Band including saxophonist Kenny Garrett, bassist Christian McBride and drummer Vinnie Colaiuta.
Benny Goodman Centennial May 28-30, 2009 In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Benny Goodman’s birth, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra revisits the bandleader and clarinetist’s historic 1938 Carnegie Hall concert, performing hits such as “Sing, Sing, Sing” and “After You’ve Gone.” Joining in this ode to the King of Swing will be a living history of jazz clarinetists including Buddy DeFranco, Ken Peplowski, Bob Wilber and the JLCO’s own Victor Goines.
